It doesn't matter if Ben and Fly are working sheep or not, they're always together - he's such a social dog. When he's not casting in the paddock or backing sheep in the yards he's always up for a pat or a cuddle. Fly likes to sit with his head on Ben's shoulder while he's on the back of the farm bike, especially if it's cold or he's tired. Fly doesn't care where they are, if there's sheep work to be done, he does it. He's a fairly even all-rounder: fast and agile with a huge heart and a particularly impressive jump. He loves to back and can clear fences with ease.

Ben Harrison

Growing up on a sheep and cattle property I always had working dogs. Now Fly and I work for The Falls Pastoral at Longwood, Victoria, on approximately 2,600ha running 3000 Merino and first-cross ewes and about 600 Angus and Wagyu cattle. We mainly look after the sheep. Having a working dog like Fly means a job that would normally take two or even three people can be done by me and my dog. The reason I enjoy working with Fly in particular is he has a great fun-loving character and a huge work rate. We have a very close relationship. He probably doesn't know how many times he's saved me from hours of frustration, and for this I'm forever grateful.
