Cub has been with me since December 2019, and was bred out of Gogetta Package and Aggie, a stationbred dog with Elfinvale lines. Cub’s favourite work is in the yards, but she loves every bit of the work we give her! Cub is agile, with steady feet when needed, as well as the push and excitement that we need when we have to get things moving along. She can’t get enough of backing and she rarely leaves a gap in the race. We’re in southwest Victoria, so the conditions can be quite wet and muddy, and Cub is working on both hills and flats. Cub likes to own the front seat of the ute or sit with her face towards the windscreen so her cheeks flap in the wind!

I help to run our family prime lamb sheep farm and Angus stud, Weeran Angus. I’ve been with working dogs since I could walk. I’m only a youngster, but I started training my own working dogs a couple of years ago. My dogs have helped me become a better stock person. They read the stock better than people do and they make working on a farm a hundred times easier! There’s nothing that my working dogs wouldn’t do for me and they never leave my side. The Cobber Challenge isn’t just a competition, it also highlights how important working dogs are as a team member on the farm and I can’t wait to show everyone how much they put in and how much they help to reduce farmers’ stress! Cub hasn’t been with me for very long, but we have a partnership like no other and I couldn’t last a day at work without her now!
